Since 1998 the Children’s Dyslexia Center of the Lehigh Valley has tutored over 183 children with dyslexia, a neurological disorder that makes it extremely difficult to read, write and spell. Most children participate in our 2 year program. In addition to tutoring Children, the Center also has trained over 60 scholar trainees using a multisensory, structured language program based on the Orton-Gillingham approach. Many people who take this training are teachers. These individuals then have a state-of-the-art approach to use in the local schools with their students. Both the student tutoring and the tutor training is provided free of charge.
- Provide, free of charge, the highest quality multisensory reading and written language tutorial services for children with dyslexia through our network of nationally recognized centers of excellence.
- Provide and encourage education of tutorial trainees, professionals, and the public, to become resources in teaching children to read.
- Advance the body of scientific knowledge of dyslexia through support of clinical research, to improve today’s standards and tomorrow’s care.
We are located in Allentown and serve the surrounding area and are within 1 hour of most school districts in the area.
